What's inside

447 Russian songs marked RU, plus 3 Italian hits marked IT (Celentano, Toto Cutugno and Ricchi e Poveri) that everyone in the USSR knew.

There are also six popular Ukrainian songs: Chervona Ruta, Hop-hop, Bez boyu, Obiymy, Na nebi and Plakala.

Cards are 65×65 mm. The front shows the artist, year and song, the back has the QR code. The corner number helps you find a song in the list; it gives no hint about the year.

SRA3 sheetscheapest

19 sheets with 24 cards each. 32×45 cm, the format most digital print shops use.

A3 sheets

23 sheets with 20 cards each, for print shops that only print A3.

One card per page

900 pages of 71×71 mm: front, back, front, back. For print shops that arrange the cards themselves.

RGB or CMYK? RGB works for almost every digital print shop. Use CMYK (Coated FOGRA39) only if the shop asks for it.

Printing. Double-sided, flip on the long edge, 100% scale. Every card has 3 mm bleed, crop marks are in the margins.

Paper. 300–350 g coated, matte or silk, like business cards. Matte lamination is a nice extra.

How to play

All you need is a phone and a free app

  1. Get QR Song!

A free app for iPhone and Android. It scans these cards and plays the song.

  2. Connect Spotify

Premium is best: the full song plays and the title stays hidden, so nobody can peek. With free Spotify the answer shows on screen after 3 seconds, so flip the phone right away.

  3. 30 songs play on YouTube Music

Some songs are not on Spotify or were removed from it. Those cards link to YouTube Music, and the app opens it by itself. The title is visible there, so the phone is best held by someone who isn't guessing.

  4. Rules

Scan a card, listen, and place the card on your timeline: before or after the cards already there. Guess the right spot and you keep the card. First to collect 10 cards wins.

The original Hitster app will not read these cards: it only understands codes from its own decks. QR Song! does read original Hitster cards, so you can mix the decks.

Your own deck

Make cards with your own songs

Type the artist, title, year and a link to the song. The generator makes cards in the same design, with a QR code, and lays them out on sheets for printing.

  • A4 and Letter for a home printer, A3 and SRA3 for a print shop
  • RGB or CMYK, with crop marks and bleed already in place
  • Paste a whole list from Excel or Google Sheets
  • Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded anywhere

Blank SVG templates

For anyone who wants to design a card by hand in Inkscape, Illustrator, Figma or Canva. The back has a white square for your QR code, and the text is editable.
